EMAIL TIPS

WEB MAIL

Check your merr.com email account from any computer that has internet access. Go to http://www.mail2web.com and type your email address and password.

EMAIL ACCUMULATION

It is very important that email messages be removed from the server so that they do not accumulate and take up valuable server storage space. In fact, email storage space counts against your 60 megabytes of storage space that you get with your account and you will be charged at the rate of $0.25 per megabyte per month for its use. Check your email regularly, and delete messages to avoid extra charges.

If you are having trouble with junk mail or spam, please check our
Spam Blocking Tips.

EMAIL ADDRESSES

The biggest reason that email doesn't go through is that the email address is incorrect -- usually because it is mistyped. This can be usually avoided by replying to someone's email rather than by retyping their address. This is done by using the "Reply" button on your email program. This way the address comes directly off their email with no chance of error on your part. If you have someone you email frequently, enter their address in the "Address Book" so that it can be recalled easily and correctly when needed.

BEWARE OF ATTACHMENTS

NEVER OPEN AN EMAIL ATTACHMENT THAT YOU ARE NOT EXPECTING TO BE SENT TO YOU. Email attachments are a common way of infecting your computer with a virus. Viruses are undesired programs that find their way into your computer, replicate themselves, spread to other computers and may due severe damage to the files on your computer. Never open an attachment, even from someone you know, unless you are certain about what it contains. As an added precaution, make sure your computer has virus protection. For more information, see our Virus Protection Tips.

LARGE EMAILS

Our server currently has no size limit imposed on the email that is sent or received. This makes it very easy to transfer files as attachments to email. However, caution and reason must be used to keep the file sizes reasonable. It is all too easy to fill up someone's mailbox with the latest game or "cute animated card," and have them not be able to receive any email because their PC can't handle the size of the download either in storage space or in download time.

If this happens to you, please call us at 1-877-493-9470 and we will delete the offending email. Or check your email on the web at http://www.merr.com and delete large emails there, and download remaining email using your email program.
