I've had a chance to work on a wide variety of projects throughout my career, everything from brochures to catalogs to web sites. My strength, though, is in hardware and software manuals and online help systems for high-tech companies. Some of these efforts have gone on to win awards from the Society for Technical Communication. Because my varied background includes training in electronics and software, I can get up to speed quickly on just about any project and begin producing documentation immediately.

Hardware I spent the first several years of my career documenting scientific equipment, writing and illustrating repair manuals, and exploring ways of improving customer support.

Software Helping users understand how to use software is something I really enjoy. My background in adult education informs my writing, by helping both beginners and experts find what they need quickly.

Online Systems Most documentation today is delivered electronically. Here are some examples of projects I've worked on.

Instructional Design I've put adult education theory into practice by creating curricula for adult ed classes and books.

I have experience using nearly all documentation packages, including Microsoft Word, QuarkXPress, FrameMaker, and InDesign, along with illustration programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I am also familiar with HTML, Flash and Dreamweaver. Oh, and of course the whole Microsoft Office Suite.
Plus, my training, experience, and background ensures that I won’t waste your time coming up to speed on terminology or concepts.
